my girls have had "after-lunch chores" for a good while now. they both put their own lunch plate and cup in the dishwasher. even mr. happy has been doing that himself since he was 18 months old! made him feel like a big kid and he liked being a helper along with his sisters. LM Sunshine clears the rest of the table, wipes it off, puts any dishes that are in the sink into the dishwasher and helps put any food away. LM Giggles sweeps the kitchen/eating area floor. they empty the dishwasher together if needed.
mr. happy recently mentioned he would like to have his very own after-lunch chore so we decided to give him the job of wiping off the table (with a little bit of help on super crumby days...). LMS taught him how to do it and oversees him to be sure he remembers what to do. He's pretty proud to be a helper in a new way! :)
