10.30.10 - halloween party 2010

tonight was our second halloween party at leah's house! there were all kinds of awesome costumes...but my friends laura and mike had my favorite of the evening! check out how well they did...here's a pic of the actual american gothic....

(of course i edited the background of the one of laura and mike...just a tiny bit! :) it was as close as i could come to the actual background with the choices on picnik. )

10.29.10 - pumpkin pie playdough

read about someone making this on a blog recently and thought it sounded like a great idea! there are all kinds of recipes for it online. it is "regular" homemade playdough with an entire little thing of pumpkin pie spice mixed in - oh, and orange food coloring. it really does smell and look like pumpkin pie!! :) still only tastes like a block of salt though, lol! :)

made me miss being little and playing with play dough with friends in the kitchen at our old house... :}

10.28.10 - library day

today was library day and was finally not so boiling hot and felt almost even cool that we got to explore the little walking track that is next to this library. there are cool statues all around it that my kids enjoyed checking out.

i was feeling experimental when trying to think of what to fix for lunch. so i came up with spaghetti with a lemon sauce tossed with tomatoes and feta cheese. yum. would have also been good with chicken on it.

10.24.10 - baby shower

went to two baby showers today. this was the cake for the shower of a friend at church.

10.22.10 - boo at the zoo

so it has become tradition for me to take my kiddos to boo at the zoo each fall. it started out that their parents would be out of town that weekend...but now i just take them anyways because it's fun to get them all dressed up and show them off! :) shannon, dave, and jonathan usually meet us there and this year, we got our friends laura, mike, and leah to meet us too!

this little cutie of a minnie mouse (leah) wasn't so sure about the merry go round...that went backwards!! she said, "wooooaaah!!!" and made this face...for most of the ride. :} but she didn't cry!

10.21.10 - godspell

if you happen to be in a play sometime...and it happens to be opening night...and i happen to be running errands close by...and happen to have window crayons in my car for just such and occasion...you might find something like this on the window of your car or truck when you leave to go home...... just sayin'. :}

10.19.10 - 30.

my parents took me to macaroni grill for dinner tonight. it was delish! they put paper on the table and the waitress writes her name on it in crayon. then my brother got a hold of the crayon. this is the kind message he wrote with arrows pointing to me!! ha! oh well...it got me a free dessert so can't complain too much!!

fyi...if you ever go to macaroni grill and want to get dessert...you'll have to ignore the calories listed next to each dessert on the little menu!!! who in the world thought it would be a good idea to list THAT information?!?! :-p sheesh.

i may or may not have gotten the item with the second highest calorie count on the menu...

but it's my birthday, right? a big one at that!

10.18.10 - broken sunglasses

my pink sunglasses broke. :( my cousins jonathan and benjamin were with me when i bought those. hm. just thought about that. anyways, now i'll have to find a new pair of pink sunglasses....oh darn! ;)

mr. happy decided to try these on. he was sad for me that they broke. :) but thought they were pretty funny to try on.

10.17.10 - game night

game night at my mom's tonight to celebrate my bday a couple days early. we had a pumpkin carving contest. this one was m's idea. :}

10.16.10 - reeeed robin! (yum!)

went to watch lauren's volleyball game...then grabbed her to go get some dinner together. thankful not to be alone tonight. still a little sad...but she always makes me happy. :)

10.15.10 - books, books, books!

i love that all three of my kids loove books! i read to them all the time...have since i came. and i know their mom reads to them too. i wanted them to love books as much as i do...and i think they do. lms has reader books for school (you know...read two pages to your parents in the evening and have them sign the bookmark so the teacher knows you did it...). they're pretty long books for a 2nd grader. there's no point in her doing the homework like that though. she finished one book in two days! lol.

i also love that she can read to the other two now...extra practice. :)

10.14.10 - sweet friends

we have had so much kind support from friends during these two weeks. mom and dad's sunday school class brought dinner last night. michael's dad and our friend penny are helping mom prepare the bread for the meal. :) have i ever mentioned that i love having lots of people around? especially at a time like this.

oh, and tonight, mr. brown here actually did the cooking! baked spaghetti. it was delicious! :)

10.13.10 - up

i don't feel like posting a picture from the events of this day. so i am posting this one. this little old man was sitting in his lawn chair. i really wanted to know his story. as he got up to leave, he knelt down to kiss the ground two times. someone is very much missed...and still very much loved.

he reminded me of the little old man in the movie Up. :)

10.12.10 - cool hair

i love long hair. anyone who knows me knows i'm a long hair girl. now, lmg looks very cute with her short hair...but i miss being able to do fun stuff with it! with the length that it is now, the front sides of it fall directly into her mouth when she leans forward at all...and she has developed the lovely habit of chewing on it. ew. so we try to keep it back out of her face...and i was getting tired of just the "usual" two half pigtails...so i pulled out a hairdo we did last year at halloween. wasn't sure how it would turn out...but it worked! and was just a fun change. :) she liked all the happy colors in it. :)

10.11.10 - one day

i missed my favorite weekend of the fall. i missed hanging out with these three awesomely cool girls...plus two more of my favorite little kiddos. i missed the crazy things we find to do together. i missed all of us being together - their uncle included. i missed having my house full of people and live noise (as opposed to the tv) for an entire weekend.

but. i am so thankful i did get to have them for one very quick night. less than 24 hours. but i loved every minute of it. i was soo exhausted from the weekend that i could hardly keep my eyes open...but i was just happy to hear everyone chatting around me. :)

next year y'all. next year. and it will be sweeter than ever since we missed this year. :)

10.10.10 - another long drive

what do you do on your second 9 hour drive in three days? take pictures of the amusing city names in NC, of course. :}

10.9.10 - memorial

today was the memorial service for my cousin, jonathan. it was a wonderful service. maybe i'll write about it later on my other blog. if i can find the words.

daniel and i had some extra time in the morning so we ran over to the beach just for a few minutes. it was so peaceful. that night, we went back and i walked on this beach with my other cousin, benjamin. it was therapeutic.

10.7.10 - out.

library day today. then went by the mall for some much needed clothes for my oldest and youngest who just won't stop growing! :-p :) lmg is set with clothes from her sister from last year...but i let her choose a couple shirts. love the children's place - they had a 50% off sale...and i got a coupon for 30% off my total purchase!! love it! i promised my kids we could walk through the disney store after tcp...which is where this pic is from. :)

10.6.10 - still didn't think about the camera

being with my kiddos helps. still didn't think about taking any pictures though.

10.5.10 - in shock

still in shock. it's slowly sinking in. but i didn't think about taking a single picture today.

10.4.10 - rocked.

my world was rocked last night with the news of my cousin's death. i spent the night at shannon's and hung out at her house all day today except running out for lunch. jonathan kept me entertained all day and made me laugh and smile a lot, which i needed. he started every conversation with a "SO! Kiki." and then would continue whatever the topic of the moment was. :) cracked me up. thanks for helping distract me today you two.

10.2.10 - first

today was a relaxing day. a little bit of shopping for halloween costumes, playing outside at home, and rootbeer floats for dessert! my kids had never had them before and lmg was a little nervous about trying them since she said she hadn't really liked rootbeer the last time she tasted it. i told her she just hadn't had it with ice cream in it! i was right...she loooved it. as did the other two. :)

10.1.10 - playground

i have my kiddos for the weekend and today we met some friends at a playground. this is jonathan, shannon's little boy...my almost-nephew. :) he is jack's buddy...although they don't exactly play WITH each other yet. but they like getting to see each other. :)

9.30.10 - five bumps on a log

so today my kids' dad spotted this log in the water. that was not the cool part.

the cool part was the five turtles sitting on the log sunning themselves! of course, four of them plopped back into the water as we tiptoed down to see how close we could get... but this guy stayed for another minute or so to check us out. :)

9.29.10 - gary at the playground

today gary (my kids grandmother) came to the playground across the street with us. the kids had a blast showing her all their favorite tricks and spots. and i enjoyed having another person over 4ft tall to talk to! :)
