9.25.10 - free maddox with every purchase! :}

this is my new bag from 31gifts. catrina recently had a 31 party and this is what i ordered. i absolutely l.o.v.e. i.t! i love that it has seven whole pockets on the outside and plenty of room on the inside. i love that it says kiki on it. in red. i love the polkadots. it is of course for me to use when i'm with my kiddos. it's perfect.

and it came with a maddox in it! lol he thought it was pretty fun to sit in it...but the flash on my phone kinda startled him...thus the serious look on his face. :)

9.24.10 - kangaroos!

today we learned about kangaroos in our science book, among a few other awesome animals. so of course, after pretending to be elephants with long trunks...we put backpacks on backwards, with stuffed animals inside and hopped around pretending to be kangaroos with pouches. they looved every second of this! :) i should have taken a video of them boinging around. :)

9.23.10 - sneak peek

catrina asked me to do maddox's 9 month pictures last friday...this is just a sneak peak...i'll have the cd to you soon, catrina! :) i love this one - drool and all!! he's a very drooly little boy right now. which is just about right - i remember wondering if mr. happy would ever stop soaking his shirts!! lol :)

9.22.10 - sunroof

it's just been soo hot still lately that none of us feel like being outside. but we went out anyways and i sat in my car for a couple minutes watching the kids play in their favorite tree. mr. happy came over and wanted to experiment looking out the sunroof. :)

9.21.10 - zoo day

went to the zoo yesterday. spent as much time as possible in the shade! caaan't waaait for fall weather!! i love fall.

9.20.10 - 6.

this little girl turned six today! :) she had a busy, full day and loved every minute of the whole thing! more on that later on my other blog. this t-shirt has been well worth the money i spent on it (it had been on sale for $6) since she has now worn it for three birthdays in a row! :) and when else can you get away with wearing a tiarra?? :)

9.19.10 - 94.

this is my wonderful grandmother - my mom's mom. she turned 94 today. i told her when she turned 90 that she was officially old. she said was ok with that! :) she is doing pretty great for a 94 year old! she likes to tell people she still walks up two flights of stairs every night when she goes to bed. :)

9.18.10 - free swing!

so my brother (who is not actually quite THAT tan...the sun was shining right on him...lol) found a porch swing for free on craig's list for me! it cost $400 when the couple bought it two years ago. it has a few rips in the top covering...but for the free price, i do not even care!

daniel brought it over and set it up for me. then we had to try it out. the seat back even lays back flat so you can sprawl out on it! i love it. just want to get a colorful seat cushion now. :) thanks, daniel!!

9.17.10 - playdough outside

we usually save play doh for rainy afternoons. but with the weather STILL hitting up in the 90s right now, i get protests and even a few tears at the mention of playing outside for a couple hours in the heat of the afternoon. so today i had the idea to take our play doh over to the playground across the street where there is a pavilion which means shade. we were still sweating when we left to go home, but at least it wasn't directly in the sun - and the kids liked the change of scenery while playing with the doh.

9.13.10 - after-lunch chores

my girls have had "after-lunch chores" for a good while now. they both put their own lunch plate and cup in the dishwasher. even mr. happy has been doing that himself since he was 18 months old! made him feel like a big kid and he liked being a helper along with his sisters. LM Sunshine clears the rest of the table, wipes it off, puts any dishes that are in the sink into the dishwasher and helps put any food away. LM Giggles sweeps the kitchen/eating area floor. they empty the dishwasher together if needed.

mr. happy recently mentioned he would like to have his very own after-lunch chore so we decided to give him the job of wiping off the table (with a little bit of help on super crumby days...). LMS taught him how to do it and oversees him to be sure he remembers what to do. He's pretty proud to be a helper in a new way! :)

leah sent me a random little happy cake! my kiddos hear about "leah cakes" all the time but had never gotten to try a real one, so i knew i had to bring it as a surprise for lunch today. they loved it. i did too. mmm...chocolate!! :) thanks, leah!!

i recently found some items from my old classroom and pulled them out as school-time activities for mr. happy. he likes to make up stories for each board...sometime i will have to write some of them down.

9.6.10 - boomsday!!

i LOVE boomsday!! this year, michael discovered he can get radio stations on his ipod and since the fireworks for boomsday are set to music that is broadcast over a local radio station, we took his ipod and shared the earbuds. it was kinda weird to hear it in my ear...and also from somewhere behind me! i am determined to get there way early just one time and get a really great spot to watch from...however, i say this every year...hmm... :}

spur of the moment girls' night at leah's house tonight! one of our favorite games is balderdash...and one of our favorite categories is the initials. this was one of them...and i don't remember what it actually stood for. what would you say it stands for??

9.3.10 - strawberry mountain

got to meet my favorite almost-nephew at the new chill ice cream place tonight! :) he thought the monkeys on the table were pretty cool. the ice cream too.

and shannon and dave...and catherine and her boyfriend, brian, were there too. we cracked up when brian got his ice cream...usually it fills up the bowl...however, evidently when you add strawberries or marshmallows something happens...and when you add BOTH...well...

things tend to expand just a little bit!! lol :)
