went to dollywood today with leah and aiden and leah's mom. saw this pretty butterfly just hangin' out. it sat here for minutes just being pretty. :)

these are some of our school books for this year. that's right...not even all of them!

8.23.10 - just his size

we ate lunch at red robin today for a treat. my kids had heard how rr has a tv in the floor in the waiting area and have wanted to go there for a while. after we ate we stopped by the restroom before heading to the library and mr. happy was so excited to discover that there was a sink just his size next to the grown-up sink! his mouth dropped to the floor when he first saw it. :}

8.22.10 - chill

my new favorite ice cream place! it is way cool. cooler than the marble slab or coldstone, etc. seriously. here's what happens when you go:

1. choose your base - chocolate, vanilla, or soy

2. get handed a silver metal cup with the liquid base of your choice in it.

3. choose any drops of flavoring that you want - vanilla, cheesecake, peppermint, etc.

4. choose any mix-ins you want...from gummy bears to oreos to red velvet cake mix (mine and lauren's FAV!!)...as much as you want (but be careful...they charge by weight)

5. when you're done choosing everything you want in your ice cream, write your name on the ice cream bowl and hand your metal cup to the friendly girl behind the counter, where she puts it in the mixer and turns it on high. (like in the picture above)

6. two minutes later, voila!! your own personalized ice cream is ready!!

Y.U.M.!!

you should try this place out. but tell me when you do and i'll go with you....you know, to show you the ropes...of course. ;)

8.21.10 - fortune cookie

this was the fortune in my fortune cookie tonight. there are a couple of you in particular that i hope it's referring to....and others that i wish it was referring to.... :}

8.20.10 - crazy baby hair

i know, i know, he's not technically a baby anymore...but he's still my baby. :) i towel-dried his hair after swimming in the pool and this is what happened. he cracked up when he saw his reflection in the window! :)

8.19.10 - sweet'n'silly

8.18.10 - her own city

my kiddos are enjoying playing with the blocks from our new math book. it's recommended that they play with them so they kind of figure out on their own how they fit together, etc. after the other two had gone on to play with other things today, little miss sunshine here made her own city. each section was something different - for example, the purple part in the second square from the right are mountains (from the crayon color "purple mountains majesty"). :)

8.17.10 - all smiles

lm giggles was cracking him up. she's pretty good at that. :) i had to put all three pics up today. i L.O.V.E. his belly laugh smiles! they're the best.

8.16.10 - math u see

we're doing a new math this year. and i already think it's going to be better in the long run! math-u-see uses these block manipulatives all the way up through algebra! it takes things a bit slower than other math books and makes sure the child has mastered (not just learned enough to pass a test) one topic before going on further. i could go on about the things we've learned in just one week, but i won't. :)

8.15.10 - sparkly

my pretty pretty present from jing from china! :) it sparkles so much in the sunlight...more than you can tell in the picture.

8.14.10 - take a guess

so tonight i had the privilege of going over to a new friend's house for dinner. jing and her husband ye are from china and recently went home. tonight they had a group of us over for real homemade chinese food and to show us the pictures of their trip.

among all the delicious food was this platter that displays the most talked about item of the evening. just for fun, take a guess at what the darker grayish item on the tray is and i will come back and post the answer here on friday! :)

*****so...j, you were close - it was pig's tongue!! i wasn't quite brave enough to try it. most everyone else did though and said it tasted sort of like ham...which makes sense. but i'll just stick with actual ham... :) *****

8.12.10 - smurf tongue

he cracked up when i told him his tongue was blue after licking a blue sucker. things that a three year old little boy thinks are funny cracks me up. :}

8.11.10 - yay!

it's about time! sheesh.

and that's my favorite summer time middle-of-a-hot-day treat - an iced passion tea lemonade, sweetened. so refreshing! :)

i got to see a glimpse of a friend's baby tonight! it was so cool to see the heart beating and the little legs kicking and the hand "waving"! :) can't wait to meet this little one!!

8.8.10 - above the city

leah made these pretty cupcakes for a wedding reception that was held in the sun sphere this weekend. the lighting up there is always really weird for taking pictures because the windows are covered with a layer of gold leaf! :-p (i wasn't at the wedding reception...i just helped her deliver and set up the cupcakes since i only live a couple minutes away.) she's figured out that transporting 200 cupcakes is much easier than a multiple layer wedding cake...so if you ever need some fancy cupcakes.....! :)

8.6.10 - sick day :(

my baby is sick today. poor buddy. i took his temp under his arm and it was 102.5 when i finally checked it - and it hadn't even beeped to tell me it was done yet! :( i hate when my little kiddos are sick...it's just so sad! l.m.s. is sick today too. so i made a sick bed on the couch and we all watched mr. magorium's wonder imporium together. (have you seen that movie? it's cute. and rated g!)

8.5.10 - look ma, no life jacket!

look who learned to swim on his own while i was at camp! he's always been a little fish - hasn't really ever been afraid to jump in or go under water or anything...just needed the help of a little life jacket to stay afloat...but now he can float on his own and is a happier little fish because of it! :)

8.4.10 - family fun crafts

i'll write more about this on my other blog later. we've been crafting away all day today! :)

8.3.10 - hat

mr. happy loves his hats. mommy just got him this new one and he decided that it needed to be word sideways while he ate breakfast today. :} and he is wearing his "muscle man shirt". he's too cool. :)

8.2.10 - bounce house

so we're trying to find all kinds of fun indoor activities this week since it is above 100 degrees outside with the heat index! :-p today, lauren, reegan, and their friend reese met us at the bounce house. my kids had an absolute blast!! and i very much loved getting to chat with catrina...any grown-up conversation is very much appreciated when you're at home with little ones all day every day! :)

bahahaha!!!! ok, only a few of you will fully appreciate (and know how to properly say) the title of this pic. :} and only two people will understand the significance of this particular sheep. basically, it's an inside joke...but this sheep cracks me up!! he's even funnier in person. teehee!!! which reminds me...i need to go look up an address... hmm.

7.31.10 - dixie

these are my cousins. i don't get to see them nearly enough!! dumb ocean in between us... :-p :) i had a blast hanging out with them this weekend though and getting to know farah, hamzah's wife. we even got to go to the dixie stampede together! a place i have wanted to go to for years. :) it was lots of fun...and we sat on the correct side...the south side. :}
