5.22.10 - smoky

this is why they're called the smoky mountains. :) not that i actually live IN the smoky mountains...but close enough.

tonight we had a spur of the moment dinner and game night at shannon's. even jonathan here got to get in on a game with "mike". :) (i hate it when people call him "mike". only his nieces and nephews are allowed to call him uncle mike. and jonathan can call him mike. because he's so darn cute when he says it! but that's it!) :}

5.20.10 - ideas

we were playing in the field across the street. he came over and i grabbed him for a tickle session. that's one of my favorite sounds ever - the sound of him cracking up giggling! :)

then i asked him what he thought the new baby should be named when aiden's new brother or sister gets here in december. (!!) :) all three of my kids are very excited about this.

this is how our conversation went:

k: will the baby be a boy or a girl?

mr. h: a girl.

k: a girl? what should her name be?

mr. h: mmm. how 'bout shannon??

k: ah, shannon is a great name! but what if it's a boy?

mr. h (wish a very irresistible impish grin on his face): poopy!!

yup. he's all boy! lol. later he decided that his own name would be a great name if it's a boy. :}

5.19.10 - splash pad!

this place is so cool! my kiddos had a blast getting soaking wet playing on this splash pad! we will definitely have to go back.

5.18.10 - new beautiful curtains!!

ok, so they might not technically match my emerald green carpet or antler ceiling fan...but they match all my black and red stuff and i love them! :) i chose this material (LOVE it) and then, since sewing is one of the few crafts i do not do...i asked my sweet mother if she would mind running a hem around the edges for me. she, being the perfectionist that she is when it comes to projects like these, ended up turning this into a major project that ended with her telling me to remind her never to do curtains again! haha! oops... :}

5.17.10 - aiden at the fountains

leah and aiden once again hung out with me today. we went to explore the fountains downtown. aiden thought these were very cool - and enjoyed stomping in the little puddles even better. :)

5.16.10 - one hand

i had a BLAST last night with three of my old highschool friends!! we ate like senior citizens at 4:30 in the afternoon, took a walk dodging the lightening (interspersed by standing under a tree...sitting on a swing with metal chain...and hanging out under a metal bridge...we like to live on the edge, what can i say??), and then just hung out and talked for forever. i don't think i've laughed that much and that hard in a long time!!

we must do it again soon, girls! and maybe next time A and L will come.... :}

5.15.10 - four monkeys in a tree

my friend deanna came to see us yesterday. my kids thought she was pretty awesome...she climbed in the tree house with us...rode the little cars...played a HUGE game of tic-tac-toe (drawn with chalk on the driveway), and climbed a tree! come see us anytime, deanna! :)

5.14.10 - island baby

i got the urge to do a few braids. thirteen to be exact. and i of course TOTALLY forgot to take a picture after i took them out!! :-p it was crimpy curly. :}

5.13.10 - lunch lady

i couldn't decide what to make for lunch...so little miss sunshine made lunch for us! including pouring the milk, putting everything on the table, and obviously, making some delicious sandwiches. :) the only thing i did was cut up a couple oranges.

5.10.10 - field trip!

today we got to go on a field trip with some of the other homeschoolers from my kids' homeschool classes. we went to ijams nature center. i hadn't been there since...elementary school? very cool. little miss giggles here is not afraid of bugs but this millipede was kinda big and made her just a tiny bit nervous. but really she thought it was way cool! :)

5.9.10 - happy mother's day!!

we sat outside on the back porch to work on mother's day presents. mr. happy here was very careful in choosing the colors he wanted to use - pink and orange. since it's for mommy.... :)

this is the dress she chose. it's very soft and stretchy and comfy. and colorful. wish i had one like it! :)

she picked this dress out last summer. never quite sure what occasion they should wear them for...so we opted for just a sunshiny spring day! what occasion could be better? :}
